Good Friday trek to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Mood: Dead
I talked the whole night with Djas and kinda forgot that I'll be going to a trek in the morning. So in the end, I ended my call, prepared my stuff and showered. The bright side was that I wasn't late. Fadh didn't make it to the trek cos its too troublesome for him to be at Kranji Train Station that early so in the end we headed off at 0715hrs. We drove along SLE and the Kranji industrial park. Upon reaching the industrial park, I saw that we passed by the railway tracks. It was beautiful with the rising sun at the same perspective as the vanishing point of the tracks. The abandoned bunks around it gave a rustic, colonial days look. I'd love to take a picture of it but my dad didn't stop the car. He said we could explore it later on our way back.. Alrighty then
We reached Sugei Buloh Wetland Reserve at 8 and saw that there was a Gurkha family day. And a surprise!! : Visitors before 0830hrs enters for free. [like that makes a difference cos adults cost $1 and children $0.50]. Before that, at the entrance, there was this huge web with an enormous spider on it. Aisam, my lil bro, is arachnophobic so he practically screamed and cowered behind me. He was totally traumatised that he refused to take the lead cos he's the tallest in the group and wouldn't want to run into a web. Bah.. Sissy.
So we made our own route which is to combine all the 4 routes together and managed to watch the great heron and the white egrets having breakfast. heheh.. its awesome I tell u.. And oh there are so many pretty pretty flowers. I was trigger happy once I managed to wrestle the new camera from my dad.
[Look up Album 1 for photos]
Anyhows, many creatures crossed our path like the monitor lizards, mudskippers, spiders, eagles, egrets, herons, caterpillers, swarms of ants and many many fishes. I feel like going for an overseas trek.. haiz. So we trekked on for 5 hrs for approximately 17.5km.. ended the walk and headed for lunch before trying to stop over at the muslim cemetery mosque for the friday prayers. But it super packed so instead we headed for Assyakirin Mosque before having lunch at IMM building.
I was 'dead' in the car by now. getting air conditioning, comfy car seats and a blanket, I could sleep all day like that. But my mum had to wake me. We walked around that humongous place crowded with people on a Good Friday finding a place to eat. Eventually settled for Long John Silvers. So gedebak-gedebuk somewhere around 1630hrs, someone thought of watching a movie. [aren't these people tired? we've been out since 8 am!! I can't believe they actually agreed. and to make it worse, it The Eye: Infinity]
By then, at 1730 after Asar at the same mosque, we headed back east since there are no more tickets in the west area. Bought our tixs, head home for a shower and went out again to catch the movie. [I was dragging myself by now. Hadn't had a proper sleep for the past 25hrs and I'm watching a horror movie. Sure hopes that its worthwhile.] hohoh... how I was wrong. the movie was a SPOOF.. not a SPOOK. everyone was laughing and pointing and I was IN my jacket, DOZING off. What a waste of money.. Alermak... Should have just curled in my bed for the sleep.
FINALLY.. got back home at 11pm, managed to clear my mails and said my HI and GD NITE to the explosion of messages on msn, I crawled into bed, squeezed dry of energy and was gone in a POOF once I hit the mattress [my legs were sticking out from the end of the bed actually. thats how tired I was]
Nonetheless, I truly enjoyed my day except for a few hiccups from someone.
