Mood: Kissed by my school children...

Thats the drawing by one of my students.. Today I was complimented by most of them. Its sooo tarching!! heheh even before school start, Arniza said, 'Cikgu Amy cantik hari ini' heheh
then in class, Joey said, 'You look like cinderella' at the laughter of her classmates. So I picked Bryan as my prince and they all rolled over laughing..

I wonder if flattering me, they have something up their short blue sleeves since I'm still new at it. But today's class was fun. I finally started teaching in Malay with a few hicccups. The students were giggling when I made faces when they thought for too long.

And when I ended the class and they were dismissed, I had a few students who hugged me goodbye and one said, 'I love you Miss Amy. See you tomorrow.' and then she kissed me. AAAaaawwww... so sweet this kids..

Tomorrow I shall go to work with an armour in anticipation of their antics or tricks.. hehehahahhaha

Organised Chaos

Mood: Chaotic madness

Today is my first teaching day at the Kindergarten.. [im not naming names in case some of you parents gets scared away..heheh]. It was fun and the kids were adorable. There are those that reminded me of someone namely Fadh. Coincidently, they share the same name, hairstyle, determination, characteristic and while one is good looking this one is soo plain adorable and cute. Would love to bring him home.. not BIg Fadh.. but small K1 Fadh.

Anyway, the malay class was introduced to me and they don't seem like how J described to me. But since its just the first day, we shall see. The best part of it all is the way they operate. Even among the chaos and the noise, they all know where they are supposed to go. Its like they have homing devices or chips built inside them that has already been programed so they wont have a lost look on their face like I did back when I was in pre school.

Its just so fun to be talking to some of them cos they are in their own world like this girl who keeps on blabbing non-stop. And another boy who colours with both his hands while telling me about his holiday. Truly talented. Amazing..

For now, I jus have to brush up on my Malay. Need to find out what purple is in malay and some of these other words:

Flat tyre and heels

Mood: Punctured out

All dressed in my pretty baju kurung and heels, made up and perfumed. My parents and I are on our way to a wedding when we realised that some bastard had punctured our tyre. So my dad got Gdin down to help him change the tyre and Miss that-looks-fun! here tried it also. Just imagine a girl in heels and baju kurung changing tyres... So tidak. hehehhe but it sure is fun minus the wrench falling on my toes.

Addicted to Flying~

Mood: Windy, dishevelled and frisbeed..

I'm addicted to kite flying now. Eversince the many failed attempts at keeping the kites airborne the last time, I have been thinking abt the technicalities of aerodynamics. I found out that the bigger the kite, the more wind it captures. Make sense? So does it makes sense if I were to make a kite 2m by 3m just so it can fly where no kites have flown before?...

So today my mum decided to bring Atul and Darwish for a picnic at Pasir Ris Beach. She was so gung-ho about it. She even called 2 of my aunties and asked them along. everything was ready.. the sandwiches and the drinks.. all I had to do was get the kids ready and pack all the stuff. I have a feeling that my parents treat those 2 like their grandchildren since they took care of their dad when he was younger. The way my dad bullies them.. its so funny and cute all at the same time.

So the picnic was a success because, my kite flew the highest with Darwish as my assistant. We had a match of Frisbee and running around with a pink disc flying at head level to your direction is a very bad idea. It either get stuck in your teeth or in your eyes. And lastly a game of rounders. Damn!! i love that game. the bat was a bottle of 100-plus and it hurts if u are standing behind the batter. But Hakim had to spoil the game and hog all the bases.. Nonetheless I had fun.

I'm thinking of making some kites and go for solo kite flying sessions. Just to relive my childhood. heh~

Its been a week!

Mood: Dusted and stiff

Its been a week since I wrote anything in here. Well, its not because of laziness, dying, getting kidnapped or getting the internet connection to be cut. Its just that I have finally entered the real working life.

I realised that, because of an itsy bitsy change in my life, I have to entirely reschedule and reorganize my whole life just to accomodate it. Its tiring no doubt. Just as tiring as getting food poisoning. here's a brief recap..

Sat: went to my gramma's to see her after her Umrah trip. She bought me 2 beautiful black Jubahs. Wonderful. I am just musing with myself why the extra attention when it comes to me. I'm beginning to scare myself since it seems that too many grammas have a soft spot for me.

Sun: Accompanied my parents to Geylang Wet Market. It'll be demolished at the end of the year so, might as well capture the atmosphere and the essence [im not talking abt the smell or the icky feeling of walking thru a WET wet market] of it before it goes. I had an idea of capturing them thru my lens too. But for that, I shall be dressed in non slippery sports shoes and cotton clothes. Anyway, I learnt alot of malay kueh's names. Had no idea since all kuehs go straight to my mouth.. hehe. Oh and I swung by to another gramma's place who also came back from Umrah who bought me some Arabic tea. Karkadeh to some of you who are familiar with it-hibiscus tea to those who don't.

Mon: Had an interview for an Assistant Teaching post in a kindergarten and was employed on the spot. WOAH... really fast. So familiarised myself with the teachers and the centre and helped with the setting up of the classroom for the start of the new school term. The best part of it all is, I'll be teaching Malay. [Pray that I don't ruin the kids' future in their Mother Tongue.. hancur betul.. kang aku dah kluar dgn kamus nie. jgn main2.. Eng to Malay dictionary tau...]

Tue: Had the worst morning of my life. Came down with food poisoning after class on monday. I literally squeezed myself dry of fluids.

And it came out both ways.

I even threw up water that I sipped. After much torture and suffering my parents dragged me to the clinic at 4am to get a jab. It was heaven sent. The stomach pain, the vomiting and everything else just paused. And i finally get to sleep. But I woke up super uber dehydrated and nagged along by my mum to get ready to go JB since there isn't anyone home to look out for me. So I packed my meds, some glucose water, 2 big bottles of cold water, a banana, raisins and apples so I will get sustanence while on the way there. Grocery shopping has never been sleepy for me. Never try plonking around along the busy aisle at Giant while resting on the big trolleys. Its either people or racks of instant noodles that will be roadkill.. -_-" I ran over both...

FYI: Shisha at Kotaraya damn cheap at RM12! many variety too. and they actually do the cold shisha too!! woot!

Wed: went to work at the centre again, did some cutting and laminates. labelling and what nots. and then rushed off to school. Was kinda blurred due to the medication.

Thurs: Work again.. but was given the lesson plan. Finished the setting up so Fri be off. I had to learn alot of new childrens' malay song and nursery rhymes that i have not heard since MY days in kindergarten. and did OT till 7 pm. Bloody hell.. Im already getting the jitters of teaching. But Atul and Darwish came by to sleep over.. heheh they so cute. he actually sang for me Akon's I'm So Lonely. Love the way he screams my name and hugs me before saying 'eew' after I return his kiss..

Fri: Had a swell time talking about ghosts and sharks with Darwish. Playing congkak with Atul is a nightmare since she 'steals' the marbles. Oh.. and I got new beds today. They are okay.. but the mattress, its like sleeping on concrete floors. They are so hard!! Darwish said this while jumping up and down on it, 'Bestnyer, you ada stage!'

thats about it. I'll update this in a while. I really need my sleep. speciaL-K, this post is for you actually since you been asking for it.

toodles. i shall try to sleep on the 'concrete' spring mattress. If not, I'll resort to sleeping on all of my 6 pillows.

Combodian Hostages

Mood: Teary Eyed

I read the report abt the 4 cambodian men who took a Cambodian Internationl School of Nursery Kids hostage. The most heartbreaking part was about a Canadian boy shot point blank because he wouldn't stop crying. He was only 5. I cried because any child that age shouldn't be dealt execution style. Even though I condone the acts of the angry villagers and parents who beat up 2 of the men to death, all I can say is.. Enough is enough.. tit for tat.. some ways its fair.. but in another its not.. Im torn.. its not ethical all this..

My heart goes out to the boy. May he rest in peace. I know he won't suffer anymore like the rest of us in a place where violence still justify certain actions...

Grammas Home!!

Mood: Missing Gramma.

Nur stayed over at my place so she could follow to fetch the grammas from the airport. We went at 9 and thought we could have breakfast first but.. there were so many people there. And.. of all the many many people there, I had to see Mr ex-CBTL manager. Him standing there in his black shirt and pants, the red tie, the goatee and jus looking handsome... I hate it.. -_- *grumbles* Why does he have to keep looking anyway? [Nish, you should know who I'm refering to]

We just couldnt contain our excitement when we saw them.. But I was a little worried for Nek Nyang cos she was in a wheelchair. But alll was well.. We heard so many stories abt them and the place. How they called all of our names so we could go there one day InsyaAllah..

Alhamdullilah they are back safe and sound. I missed them..

Merlion Mime

Mood: Happy

I was accompanied with 3 trigger happy people today.. Shasha, Nur and Aisam.. brought them to Change Alley where we rummaged through a treasure cove of Russian Goods.. We saw an antique metal army helmet, a working gramphone, some cool telescope and an antique diver's gear.

I bought a bracelet and a brooch for myself and a pair of earrings for Iqah. Hope she likes it.. she's into all things 60s and dangling..

Then we went to Clifford Pier to check out the place and then to the Merlion where we became tourists for a while.. Taking pics of the iconic symbol of Singapore. We took some kooky ones too.

Then I brought them over to The Arts House at Old Parliament Building to catch the glass exhibition. My heart was racing in there cos Shasha was a lil clumsy and each piece costs around S$6 000 plus... and I didnt have my VISA with me. Sheesh.

So many many pictures later we were at the Raffles Place Park, armed with a Rotiboy, waiting for Leandre the Mime to start performing. He was a riot but too bad the weather wasnt forgiving.. the performance ended in 30 mins and that was after a finale of blowing a condom over his head... [woah... I didnt know a condom can stretch that big.. ]

So then we ended at Simei for dinner and 162 pictures to spare out of 577.. that was how happy we were...

Graveyard for Killer Kites

Mood: Sombre

May the Killer Kites rest in peace..

The many angsana trees that lined Pasir Ris Park has become a graveyard to kites that lived for only a brief glorious moment in the sky. Some of them, with their skins torn away from their skeletons but yet attached to their umbilical cords hang downwards from the branches while others lay unmotionless amidst the leaves.

The picnic I had saw us 9 cousins trying to get the kites to fly in non-existant winds. Those younger ones managed to get theirs to fly while running around at stumbling speeds in the field. Finally, ours did fly when the wind changed directions and blew towards the sea and the sun has already set in the west.

I spent the next hour lying on the grass looking at the clouds and convincing myself that the stars didn't move and it wasn't a UFO. With the girls blowing bubbles and eating cookies, I fell in love with the beach over again.

Ending the day with the movie Cursed, I came back out of air and energy but yet before hitting the sack, talked to Fadh who needed some assurance that his braincells didn't leave him.. [its 0315 so pardon me if I sound sarcastic, demoralising or just full of crap. I'm sleepy and some of MY braincells have escaped me..]

Thinking Allowed

As I held my ball point pen, my hand trembled for a few seconds before it floated on the recycled brown paper that smelt faintly of musk. I nearly pruned the memory of writing, as in real writing on pen and paper. And then I wondered... this here blogspot was made for my thoughts.. why has it then became a diary of some sorts? I've taken writing for granted and I feel so guilty...

I did have taken some things for granted and have changed my priorities.

Promises will be made soon enough about writing more about my thoughts..

Oh well.. its 0915.. and I'm gonna miss another Gramma who is going to Umrah later in the day. I hugged her tight and showered her literally with kisses.. Standing a whole 2 heads taller, all she could do was squeeze my hands and pull me close to give me kisses...

Art Appreciation

Mood: Appreciated

Promises made to Sha to watch Madagascar became an outing for all of us the siblings, our cuzz, Nur along with my Mum. Right after Zuhur, my Dad fetched Sha at Simei and off we went to Marina. All of us were trigger happy. I couldn't understand why... [This means I had to share the D70 with them *pouts*]

First stop was Marina Sq to buy the tics and everyone were talking to everyone.. there were so many conversation crossroads. If my mum hadn't followed, everyone would have forked out their own money for the movie. Thanks Momma.. Then we had a KFC lunch at Suntec. The salad, was okay especially the chicken bits but why are chopsticks given to eat salad? I really don't understand...how do you suppose chopstick idiots [not me] to pick the corns and the tiny capsicum? I was pondering about that when I saw a huge hole under A-Sum's arms. Hahahahahhahhha.. I was lucky I didn't snort corn kernels on the table.

So after lunch, we headed to Giordano where we chose a beige and orange NaturDry Polo Shirts [2 for $35] for him. I had further 5% discount for it and then brisk walked to Marina Sq GV cos we had only 4 mins to spare before the start of the show. Popcorns, Iced Lemon Tea and Madagascar merchandise are not forgotten. [These are what we are fooled to buy even after they hike up the ticketing price.]

And like the first time I watched Madagascar, I died laughing again. This time even harder and a few bursts of claps. I just love the part where Alex the Lion had wanted to help Melman the Giraffe out of the box after being washed ashore. Eeek!!! wakhakhahahahahahahka

After the show, we talked about it while we walked to the Esplanade where there is a free performance at the outdoor theatre. But it was a jazz singer so we ended up really really trigger happy at the rooftop, the library, the promenade and pretty much everywhere else before the start of the Peotry Performance by Chris Mooney Singh called Durian Eaters. The Performance was great. I definitely had lots of fun.. the chant, 'I want Ice Kachang! I want Ice Kachang!' is still ringing in my head.

To top it all off, we walked back to CityHall to have dinner at LJS and then headed home.. Definitely great times with Sha, A-Sum, Nur and Gdin. Prolly will be going again equipped with the camera to the esplanade soon.

Coral Band for Shopping till Midnite @ RafflesCity

Mood: 'Chai Latte and Bluberry muffin' High

Darwsh and Nasya stay over my place last night. They had a supper of prata and white chocolate cake [Iqah's] and its so cute to see Darwsh eat in all seriousness.. I dressed him in his bumble bee jumper and sent both to sleep by 1am. And we only woke up at 12 noon cos somewhere between 4-5 am, he woke up crying..

So today I spent the day eating Paus, drinking milk, playing kids internet games, wrestling in bed and had an imaginary tea party. hehehhe Kids laughter are so contagious.. I can play with them all day but too bad I had to get ready and go to class. I had to rush there actually cos Iqah came home late and there wasn't anyone else around.

The best part is that today's class ended really early as we were given our assignments and we were off by 8.30pm. But on the way to the train station, Cik Arh called to ask if I'm interested to watch Nur's performance at RafflesCity. Of course I am!! Its been a long time that I went to a symphonic band concert. I told her that and said i'll be there by 9. AND, guess what? The performance was at 11.30. Bloody hell.. 2 freaking hours at raffles city..

Tazo iced tea, warm Blueberry Muffin and a view of people walking past... thats all i had to do to occupy my 2 hrs. So I was enjoying the muffin while observing people and called up Yan jus to check up on him. I told him what I was doing and next thing I knew, he said he'd be meeting me in 15 mins time. Woah.. Didn't expect that sey.. So when he came, we chilled at Starbucks and then head off for dinner at LJS. Was ok but I was talkative and was conscious of it.

And the Performance, was lukewarm. cos of the high ceiling, can't hear much. But I did enjoy some of the songs like Oy Como Va, Lady Marmalade and the Barbie song by Aqua. It would be better if its in a concert hall. So anyway, after the performance, I said my goodbyes to Yan and was sent home by Cik Im.

heh.. Today was a good day.. Thanks Yan for accompanying me again. One day we shall go Harley riding and have chocolate buffets ok? heheh

Grammas to Umrah

Continued from last post...

Mood: Still shaking from last episode.

I reached the airport at 11pm, bought a belated bday brownie for Yan and was shivering in the cold Terminal 2 for him. Thank God there weren't any psychos here. Thats what the police officers and airport police are for, I guess..

I recounted the whole Ribbon Man incident to Yan and all he could do was chuckle. I was traumatised you know.. we headed to BK for some late dinner and we talked about chocolates, Miss Universe from Canada, Yan being delusional cos he thinks that the show is his birthday present, Army guys going to Taiwan, beach resorts all over the world, Egypt and kids.

Then the topic changed to Ribbon Man and Yan had to distort my imagination when he recounted an incident when HE tied a red ribbon on one part of his body. Its only natural for someone normal to think about that you know... anyway, we hung out infront of the sky train at Terminal 2 while I waited for the rest of my family to reach there. We had a few laughs about the people we saw and I had to thank him for helping me out.

By 12.45 I said my goodbyes to him and headed to Terminal 1 where I met Iqah the birthday girl my aunt and the guys. Their flight was at 5.30 and since it was only 1, we had a super long day. Those going to Umrah this year is Cik Dh, Cik Wn, Granny Ton, Granny Asmh and Great Granny Asmi.

Looking at my great grandma, I can't help but feel so loved. She gave me so much inspiration and courage. And all the aunts and us were talking abt the 5th generations which falls on my shoulders. haiz...

Right before they went in and we had to say our goodbyes, I cried. Even when I was hugging them, I was already missing them. I kissed and kissed my Great granny and all she said was to come over her house when I am back from overseas. She is so cute... All my grammas said they pray I find my Jodoh soon enough and that I'll be happy for the rest of my life. * cries silently*

I miss them already.

Ribbon Man

Mood: Psychoed out..

I have said before that Clifford Pier is a 'Couples' place and not a 'singles' hang out area and here's the reason. I had ended my class early and looking forward to meeting my friend who was fetching me. The appointed place was the bus stop right in front of Clifford Pier at 9.15.. I waited for him patiently at the bus stop when a short thin man sat beside me. I didnt think anything about it when he started making small conversations with like, 'sudah makan?' [have you eaten?]. I jus nodded my head and watched out for my friend. That was when the weirdest thing happened.

He suddenly laughed out so loud as if I made the most hilarious joke in the world. I was perplexed. He started to pat my back and said I was funny. ENH? Then he told me to buy this numbers, 7565 [Don't take my word for it.. he had a ribbon around his neck. if u think taking his advice is a good idea, go ahead and buy them. but don't come searching for me if u lose millions.], for the following week. He was convinced that it would strike first prize and had me to call my boyfriend, brother and father to buy it too. By then, I was trying to get to my friend apparently, he was asleep and his mum was banging on his door telling him that Liyana was on the phone. Shit! He fell asleep and I had a psycho deep in a one sided conversation with me. Because of the whole situation, I forgave my friend immediately and fixed another day with him.

The Ribbon Man, the bald short man had a blue sleeveless shirt and blue bermudas and he was carrying a bag with bottles tied everywhere and the thing that made such a deep impact was a red ribbon tied around his neck complete with a bow! I had changed seats 3 times by then and he never fails to follow me. The other people waiting for the bus didnt even helped me when he started stroking my hands and told me that I should treat him for lunch, that his father is passing away and thinking that exchanging numbers is a good idea.

AAAArrrrghhhh!! Sungguh tak GLAMOUR!

I was frantic and called Yan to help me out. At least when I was on the phone, The Ribbon Man didn't disturbed me.

Yan was a great help, cos he calmed me down and talked me to walk away without being scared of Ribbon Man following me. I walked towards Raffles Place Mrt Station making arrangments to meet Yan cos I had too much bloody time before going to the airport to send my grammas. So I was set, calmed down but yet shaking, on my way to the airport to have dinner.

Like what some maggot said, 'Yana, you attract all the weirdos.' I'm beginning to believe it cos among them are Ribbon Man, Hair Smeller, Bus Stalker and Boob Fetish. Normal straight single guys are either married, attached or dead. Lucky not all... heh.
