Gramma's on Sunday
Mood: Tensed
Its been nearly 18 years that I have been in the same room with all of my paternal siblings. And the atmosphere was really tensed.. Lots of shifting eyes, frowns, nudges to the ribs and whisperings going on.. But during the prayers, I cant help but remember Tok Ayah in the swing at the kampung and I just started crying. I just miss him so. Just do I miss Tok Adi.
After that the buffet was splendid even with a few akward moments. Like when I sat beside Mama TonE and had to talk to her about my weight.. Apparently, she overheard 4 aunts telling me that they noticed I have lost a lot of weight and she jus wanted some facts. I made some friendly chat and went off to join Cik Ah. So I chatted with my Gramma and OmAi at the sofa and OmAi had us in stitches, he always does that. I think OmAi is the coolest uncle who listens to hiphop and wears sneakers at the age of 44.
And then my conversation went to Cik TahMas and Cik Ah when the topic changed to my childhood. At this point, Gdin, Ain, Ika, Eone joined in the conversation. We had so much laughter about them, it hurts.. and I realised I made such an impact on the Jap Kids, Kenji and Yuuka, abt the pronounciation of 'tangga' that became 'Dangga'. EEk! hehahahha.
Anyways, the family discussion went thru some really uncomfortable moments with lots a shoutings and raised voices. lots of poutings and eye rollings. but finally its all over. Gramma feels much happier now and so does the siblings. A family gathering that ended well. moments that made me happy is that i get lotsa compliments on my brownies and weight, and the fact that memories of Tok Ayah came back..
Oh and there is so much food left.. i bet everyone has the same lunch tmr.
I hope there be more of this minus the tensed emotions. I miss Gramma.
