Sculpture Carnival: The Lost City of Monadnock

Mood: Sticky with glitter, happy with laughter..

Every year, Sculpture Square holds this childrens' sculpture carnival at its own gallery and open its doors to families at the start of the school holidays to let children explore their imagination and express themselves through art. And for the 3rd year, I was invited to be the artist instructor again but for Wire Sculpting this time. hehe.. SweeL forbade me to come with two buns at the sides of my head in a white robe and an orange lightsabre. [there goes my plan.. she kept on stressing on the lost city of Monadnock].

But I had lots of fun playing with kids again. Especially this pair of siblings.. the brother is Jonathan, 5, and his sis KK, 2. Jonathan made a rocket and KK was talking to me about curly hair. She is such a delight to talk to because she doesn't talk like any 2 yr old. She uses such perfect english and she has a big imagination.. and when I was teaching her brother, she would tap my hands to get my attention and resume the conversation we had about curly hair. Cute isn't she?

But there would always be the buggers that gets on my nerves.. and I'm not talking about anal parents who thinks that they can bring home cartons of materials just because they paid for the workshop and insult the artist instructors because their kid made a piece of crap sculpture.. they are the 'Super Streetwise' kids who thinks that art workshop are for retards with queer imaginations and are force to be there cos their after care centre has invested money on them. A fine example is this brat whose name is MyName, who keeps insisting that whatever sculpture he makes is none of my business. And he made fun of my Jedi Knight sculpture by repeating, 'May the F*** be with You.' and sniggers stoopidly. If only I can kick him out of my class..

But overall, I made so many friends from the volunteers, the employees of Sculpture Square and the other artist instructors. Especially Ju, Fauzi, SuShan, Michelle, Jeannete, Lina, Tomoko and the Zions team from Nanyang JC. Even this teacher, Liza, from Fengshan Pri cos i made a brooch and she liked it so much, she asked if she could buy it from me. I told her i dun sell but then i didnt have the heart so I gave it to her. She was so touched, she bought me a cheesecake from The Secret Garden Cafe. Tarching kan?

I received so many hugs and handshakes, i was covered in glitter, glue and paint.. And not forgetting Y@ti's son Faiz who gave me a hug.. he's such a diplomatic delight. So sorry I had to traumatise u with my cut hehehe..

I love working with children.. And I'm looking forward to a set of my own.. till then, I shall play with every single kid I meet in life..
