Potian Wedding

Mood: Rambutan High

After coming home from the beach at 3am , we woke up pretty early at 6am to go to a wedding in Pontian. I have never been to a kampung wedding so its all new to me. My sister, cousin Sofiah and I all had the same thought... -'Do we have to look kampung-ish?' I would really feel out of place with my usual 'Jemputan' wear of sequinned baju kurungs and high heels.

So I chose a simple silk kebaya. No frills. And we met with the usual paternal ppl and some I have not seen in my whole life.

The journey there took us nearly 2 hrs and by that time, I slept, smudged my mascara, wiped my lip gloss and ruffled my scarf askew. I should have gone bare faced without my eyeliner but my mum would have none of that.

The reception was efficient, I must say. There were ppl who served you, there weren't any sinks but they made this portable one using huge funnels and some ingenious sense of invention. Then there is the karaoke tent where they sing, you could guess this lightyears away, Dangdut. the National Wedding songs. [I will forbid dangdut in MY wedding!]

So after that we head off for some fruit picking. I can't believe we took home so much things. Rambutans, langsats, Pineapples, Pucuk Ubi, Ubi Kayu, Daun Turi and Dills. We didn't even have to go shopping later. I actually felt guilty taking them but they said that if we don't they would just let the fruits fall and let it rot. i didnt think about that. I guess they would be sick of their own fruits by then.

My fever struck again so after that, all became hazy since I slept most of the way home. next thing I knew, we were at the Gelang Patah rest stop having deer satay. Home was early at 9pm and when i reflect back on the trip, I loved it... There's going to be another one in September which I can't run away from and I am looking forward to it.

The pictures will be uploaded soon enough.
