Chinese Garden
Mood: Walked out
Today is the outing to Chinese garden. Its gonna be my first time in charge of the class for an outing, my first time going to Chinese Garden and definitely my first time with my Nikon D70 but without the memory card. I had 19 kids and a parent volunteer. I had to make do with that.
I tot that the other teachers would walk together with me, you know, to show the ropes of going on an outing. But I was so freaking wrong. My supervisor said,
'Amy, you can go anywhere. if you get lost, look at the map and be at the entrance by 12.30 okay?'
Go anywhere? Lost? Entrance? What map? I was on my own? All these thoughts went through my head before a map was thrust into my hands and a smile under a cap went away taking pictures of all the lanterns. I can't believe im lugging a digital SLR without a memory card, 19 excited kids waiting for me to start walking and it was my first time there. total Nightmare.
But thanks to great common sense inherited along with a great smile, we started walking. I asked the staff a few questions and just followed the path. hey, it was chinese gardens anyway.. all paths lead to somewhere.
So I started telling stories about the animals in Noah's Ark that were featured, the reptiles i learnt from watching National Geographic and the primates.. Its a miracle that my class were gathered around me close and listening intently to my stories. They asked me questions like, 'what's the difference between a proboscis monkey and a golden monkey?'
I guess its true what they say, The World is a Classroom by Itself.
Anyway, the ride home, the boys fought over who to sleep on my lap. Mirza won. Eventually, I dragged myself home and was unconscious for the next 8 hrs.
